While Jane has been taking care of Aunt Cora and providing us with updates on her condition, she and her 4 sisters ran as a relay team in the Lehigh Valley Marathon for Via on September 13, 2009.

The five sisters have been in training since early spring of this year. Ruthann ran the first leg, 5.6 miles, Melissa ran the second leg of 6.2, Ellen ran third at 4.8 miles, Jane ran the fourth leg of 5.8 miles and Liz was our anchor at 3.8 miles.

We traveled in Ruthann's van, as we dropped off team members at the designated start/end points, so as one member came in from their run, we all cheered them on as the next team member took off on their leg.

Teams started at the Lehigh Valley Hospital on Cedar Crest Boulevard in Allentown then made their way with checkpoints along the city streets of Allentown. Then down to a scenic run along the towpath between the Lehigh River and Lehigh Canal. The race ended in downtown Easton near Centre Square, where, as a team, we followed our sister, Elizabeth, across the finish line.

We raised a total of $500 for VIA of the Lehigh Valley to help physically and mentally challenged children and adults.
